With a long history of expert medical care, Optimal Health Services provides home health care and hospice care to families in their own homes, as well as offers a day care for medically fragile children. As a team, Optimal aims to combine compassion and medicine to help patients and families enjoy life to its fullest.
A community-based company, Optimal Health Services has pursued improving the quality of life for the families of California since 1984. Founder and owner, Clark Gustafson began Optimal as a retail pharmacy in Bakersfield, California, which eventually included an infusion pharmacy for specialized medications. In 1992, Optimal began providing home health care and today is one of the largest providers of home health care in Kern County.
Acting on the need for comprehensive care for patients in their home, Optimal Health Services complimented the scope of home health care with a license for hospice care in 1998. The non-profit Optimal Hospice Foundation helps fill the gap in funding for uninsured or underinsured patients. Optimal Hospice Care now has the largest service area of any provider in the Central Valley with offices in Bakersfield, Ridgecrest, Visalia, Fresno and Modesto.
In 2003, Optimal Health Services opened Caring Corner, a Bakersfield day care center for medically fragile children and the first of its kind in Central California. Optimal sold the infusion pharmacy in 2005 to a national company to center services on care for families through its day care center, home health care and hospice services.
Optimal Health Services takes pride in its history, quality care and investment in the local community. The trusted experience and compassion of the Optimal team make the difference when it matters most.
