Most hospice patients are eligible for Medicare, which pays for all hospice expenses, medications related to the terminal diagnosis and medical equipment and supplies.

Beyond Medicare, hospice is also covered through Medicare HMOs, Medi-Cal or Medicaid, as well as most private insurance plans.
